Adlan and the Misunderstood Dog

Dogs are man's best friend, and have increasingly becoming one of current. Canine however, is misunderstood through Islamic views/practices, particularly in M'sia.

Watch this video from The Storyteller by Yasmin where a true story about how a dog reached deep into Adlan, an autistic child and changed the life of his Islamic family. Thanks to Eve for publishing this on Facebook [great effort!].

To understand more of the religion, we don't listen verbally from the others, we read the book.
To learn more of the religion, we don't follow the blind, we lead by the book.
To love the religion, we don't express with unruly demands/legislate laws, we pray and worship God in realms of deep silence.

With respect,
TENG

Animal Don't Deserve Cruelty

This post is not recommended for the weak hearts.

The video below shows the cruel act of violence towards defenseless animals; ie. cats and dogs. The news was covered by TV3's 360° on 4th February 2009. Thanks to 4allpetlovers for blogging about it.

The complaint was also highlighted in TheStar on :

KL mayor to investigate TV3 report on inhumane killing of dogs and cats.

Members of the public are crying foul over the way stray dogs and cats are allegedly killed at the the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) animal pound in Setapak.

This is in reaction to the visuals shown over a TV3 programme 360° on Wednesday night. The visuals which were captured with a hidden camera showed a pound worker dragging a dying dog with a loop around its neck. To make matters worse, the “execution” was watched by another terrified dog waiting in line for its turn to be killed.

In the programme two people, who had brought the matter to the attention of the television station, said the dogs’ necks were fractured and cats were drowned or clobbered to death at the pound.

People of all kinds are initially brought up to be kind to all animals, presenting no general harm to any living beings on Earth. Humans are always the ones to trigger the harm initially. These animals are given life to be amongst us for a reason, so be fair and let them live deservingly.

The victims may just turn out to be the pet you once owned.....

An Unfortunate Accident

I tried really hard to let bygones be bygones. But, when reality hits, you will have to face it. I don't know how long I took to write this up, but as far as I had remembered, I had been sitting there all the time....

Da Lian was bitten to death by stray dogs in front of my home. It happened yesterday. The dogs came from nowhere and started chasing Da Lian. She was already scrambling on her tiny paws into my front gate when the dog grab the back of her trunk and pulled her back.

The dog sank his teeth into her neck and scooped my 7month old kitten away. The mongrels carried her across a few streets until when they finally let her lifeless body to rest...

My mum and I buried her today. The effort to conceal the pain consume such a huge chunk of myself that I can barely move on with it. Shi Shi stood by Da Lian's body awaiting the burial ground. Shi Shi grew up together with Da Lian and went trough almost everything side by side. Looking at the freshly dug grave, my memory went back to times when Da Lian was still here, alive. I think Da Lian took away a part of myself with her as well. I did not realize how I finally did it, but I managed to put her in together with the flowers I picked from my garden. Shi Shi just stood by her until she was laid to rest.

I tried so hard to carve the word, 'ACCIDENT' into my head. I dearly wish that this did not happen to me. Not me, and not on my innocent cats. There was nothing left to blame, but on grieve itself. I find this so distressful.

When I finally sat down and my howling turned to regular sobbing, I realize that God made His plans worked on me. So that I can grieve for my beloved companion and appreciate her existence in my life. So that I can make sure history never repeats itself. So that I have a chance to build a bigger heart to forgive the strays for their ruthless behaviour. So that every animal in this world deserve fair judgement. So that I have a story to tell about the magnificent cat I once owned.

And now, 'If only' can never compensates my loss anymore...

Valentine's Day 'haram in Islam'

JOHOR BARU: The state Religious Department yesterday reminded Muslims here that Valentine's Day was haram in Islam. The fatwa had been declared in 2005, but the warning, said Mufti Datuk M. Tahrir Samsudin, was the department's yearly reminder to Muslims not to engage in un-Islamic activities. He said such celebrations "involved elements of vice" and violated Islamic tenets and values. He said the Christian elements found in the celebration also did not correspond with Islamic practices.

Hmmm.... be careful when you're walking down the streets on the 14th.... oh wait, does that apply to Chap Goh Meh [psst, the chinese valentine version] as well??
