BYEE snapshots!

It's been ages since I had encounter sincere souls in this journey of my life. Lately, I bumped into a whole bunch of wonderful people and even started a lovely family tree! How grateful and blessed I feel.

Dear all, our journey have just begun.

Bayer Young Environmental Envoy (BYEE) Eco Camp 2008

BYEE is an annual program from Bayer Co. in order to gather young environmental enthusiast around the world to share their experiences & efforts in their interaction with nature. This year in M'sia, 10 envoys were selected to attend a 4-days' ec0camp at Pulau Perhentian off Terengganu coast. We had a major outbreak of laughter and joyous learning experience while getting to know each other. Among the activities conducted were water quality analysis, trekking up a steep hill to M'sia's first ever windmill, waste management studies, interviewing the tourists, candat sotong, snorkeling and lotsa photography!!!!

Yes, some of the activities sound too 'normal' for a marine biologist but hey, I learnt a lot from people coming from different backgrounds. Most of the envoys are engineers from different sectors and they have taught me a lot! Overall, the experience was great and intriguing. It is the people who could and will change the minds of others, and these envoys proved that they made a difference. They left their footsteps for others to follow behind...

So much to tell, so much left to say... I guess the scanned newspaper pullouts would express better than I could. Yes, the Environmental Envoys were featured in the Utusan Malaysia this year.

Not only that, you can also see us officially in Bayer's website [here]. We have the latest coverage over there too! After all, these experiences are worth sharing...

Relay For Life

Heard of "Relay For Life" ?

This year, they made it happen again. It is an international event staged in over 22 countries in 4800 communities worldwide with over 3.5 million participants, is an overnight community based cancer awareness and fundraising event. You can read all about it here.

Relay For Life KL 2008 was held on 31st May-1st June, the weekend of World No Tobacco Day and International Cancer Survivor's Day, at the MSN Training Stadium, Bukit Jalil. Boy, there was also TV3 Carnival's program conducted at the same time! Imagine the traffic!!! We were stuck even before the parking entrance.

Well, the Relay For Life was fun. There was a huge crowd participating and even the T-shirts for the public finished by the time we registered!!

These are some of the very enthusiastic people who kept walking around the field for the overnight event. This is actually the whole idea of the event!

It was a great night with performances, some strong vocals from Anita Sarawak, Jacqueline Victor from Malaysian Idol, pageant contest of man dressed as woman, line dancing and lots of other entertaining activities to keep the adrenaline draining all the night.

Here's the part I liked most.

People can convey their messages through plain paper bags and light them up along the edge of the field. Here's how they do it :-

Simple drawing of a petite happy family.

Graceful and heart-warming poem.

Religion based.

And they are all over the stadium. There are so much more but I just couldn't afford to capture them. So much to tell.

Some made great plans to stay overnight for charity. Great people huh! But, I gotta go. Next year, I'm gonna wear proper walking shoes!!!

See ya next year!!!

Hello Updates!!

I know, I have been missing in action. God, how much I missed the internet connection back then in Terengganu....

It's just a month ever since I moved back to KL. But everything seem to be strange and unlikely for me. KL changed so much in just a matter of 3 years of my absence...

Lately, I felt so like a turtle. Everything is moving in such a slow pace. I had not been writing ever since I went to NRIC. Yeah, talking bout NRIC... I'll surely fill you guys up in my upcoming posts when I got my hands on the photos. A disadvantage of not having your own camera!

Now, I just wanna have a bit of a casual writing up as I'm preparing for my eco-camp in Pulau Perhentian this weekend. An all-sponsored event organized by BAYER!!! Yeah. Will try not to 'brag' about my cool getaway when I'm back. Hahaha.

Well, it isn't entirely about fun actually. I was selected as one of the Bayer Young Environmental Envoy to brush up my conservation skills along with 9 other participants from other higher institution of learning.

I would be glad to share my experiences with all of you.
Knowledge gain is never meant to be kept.

Wait up!
